The given figure explains the design of modern landfills for household waste.
The given diagram details the construction of a landfill, which is created using modern techniques, and further explains its usage to treat the house waste.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the entire system is made up of an amalgamation of man-made and natural processes. It consists of rock, clay, pipes, and synthetic material. The process starts with digging a hole in the rock to end with the production of gas.
To begin with, the design involves a piece of rock, which is further carved out to form an empty hole. Then, the inner boundary is coated with a layer of clay before covering it with some synthetic material and a few pipes. Besides this, the design concludes after leaving some needed space for draining out the waste liquid through the drainage tank.
Turning to the usage, the waste directly from houses is trapped in the man-made hole, after which, the liquid waste seeps down into the rock via drainage tank. In the end, the whole system is sealed using some clay coating that later leads to the extraction of gases, followed by its storage in the fitted pipes.
