The given pie charts compare the expenses in 7 different categories in 1966 and 1996 by American Citizens.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

A glimpse at the two pie charts given compares the changing pattern of average individual spending of the Americans in year 1966 and 1996. All in all, the data differ significantly.

As shown in the information registered in 1966, the spending on food accounting for 44% was in the dominant position in American expenditure. Evidently, second was the expense on cars that accumulated up to approximately one quarter of their overall expenses. By contrast, the spendings on driving, eating out and reading were practically identical at 7%, whereas a meagre 1% of their spendings comprised of the spending on computer.

In stark contrast, in 1996 the US, however, saw its citizens paying doubled cost on buying cars compared to that of three decades ago. Likewise, the overall spending for consuming food in restaurant had doubled over this 30-year period. Noteworthy is the fact that people living in the US spent 10% and 1% on computers and books respectively by 1996.

Overall, the expenses on cars, restaurants and computers increased significant over this period, whereas a plunge was manifested in the sector of food and books.
