The pictorial depicts the different type of transportation facilities used to travel and return from workplace by the UK citizens in 1970, 1990 and 2000.

Overall, there was a considerable increased in the usage of cars as a medium of transportation in the given period. By contrast, the preference of biking as well as walking to the office dramatically declined in 1970 and 1990 onward.

First and foremost, car usage which stood at 10 percent in the initial period, gradually uplifted to approximately 4 times higher in the end of the given sequence, i.e. just beneath 40 percent of the average . Contrary, traveling by bikes and walking experienced a noticeable decreased over the year with about 33% of bikers and 35% walkers in 1990 onward. Nevertheless, the number of walking-workers somehow increased although slightly in 2000 to exactly 15 percent. Meanwhile, bikers continue to decline to reach just after 5 percent of the average. The other type of transport, bus, showed a fluctuation over the years. It started with 20% in 1970 to 25% in 1990 before it dropped to just the same as in 1990 in the last a decade respectively.
