The figure provides information regarding the amount carbon dioxide emitted averagely by every person in four countries (UK, Sweden, Italy and Portugal) in a period of years (1967-2007).
Firstly, the curves illustrated that CO2 emissions in Italy and Portugal had corresponding trends. Meaning that there was an upward pattern starting from roughly 1.5 tons in 1967 to reach in 5 tons in 1997 and leveled off until the year 2007 in Portugal, while beginning from approximately 4 tons in 1967, then hitting to 6 tons during a decade, continuing a gradual increase toward the year 1997 and staying in near 8 tons level during the years 1997 and 2007 in Italy.
Secondly, the UK and Sweden had a downward trend. However, the UK’s CO2 production by each person declined slightly from 11 tons to 8.5 tons from 1967 to 2007. In contrast with the UK, Sweden increased the amount of CO2 in the first ten years of the related period, and then declined dramatically from the year 1977 to 2007, reaching to the similar mark of Portugal at the end year.
Overall, the most amount of CO2 was entered by the UK during the given period, and Italy took over the Sweden after two decades. Furthermore, Portugal had the least CO2 emissions during the years 1967 and 2007 among all countries.
