It is evident from the information provided that the United Kingdom had the highest of the amount of carbon dioxide emissions at nearly 11 tonnes in 1967, followed by Sweden, Italy, and Portugal. From 1967 to 1997, the United Kingdom's carbon dioxide emissions witnessed a significant decline to under 10 tonnes. Meanwhile, despite a considerable rise in 1977, Sweden's carbon dioxide emissions experienced a substantial drop from nearly 9 tonnes to roughly 6 tonnes. On the other hand, the amount of carbon dioxide emissions in Italy grew remarkably from just over 4 tonnes to nearly 8 tonnes, significantly surpassing Sweden's carbon dioxide emissions in the early 1990s. Similarly, Portugal's carbon dioxide emissions rose remarkably from over 1 tonne to over 5 tonnes.
Between 1997 and 2007, the United Kingdom's and Sweden's carbon dioxide emissions continued its reduction from the previous period, while this figure in Portugal increased slightly to nearly 6 tonnes. Meanwhile, the amount of carbon dioxide emissions in Italy remained unchanged in this period.
