Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph illustrates the patterns of worldwide food and oil costs and changes that happened between the years 2000 and 2011.

Overall It can be seen that in the beginning, both items started with almost similar prices, and in the end, food prices overtook the oil.

Firstly, the cost of edible items in the year 2000 was at 90 points. Further, from 2000 till 2007, there was a gradual increase in the price index with 140 points maximum. Moreover, In 2008, the cost of consumables raised significantly and reached 220 points. After that, by the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009, the cost started falling rapidly and stopped at 140 points. Lastly, after mid-2010, It can be identified that the value of food items reached its peak and rested at massive 240 points.

On the other hand, Oil products in 2008, started selling at almost 30 dollars per barrel. At the same time, In the coming years until 2007, the growth was continuous but slow. Crossing the year 2007, again the price started hiking and these time very fastly, followed by the instant dip in the year 2008 with 50$ per barrel. In the last phase, it ended with 100$ per barrel.
