The line graph compares three sectors in terms of consumption of spreads over the period of sixteen years starting from 1981.
It is clear that the total consumption of margarine, low fat and reduced spreads as well as butter fluctuated between 1981 and 2007 . The most dramatic increase was seen in low fat and reduced spreads.
In 1981, around 90 grams of margarine were consumed, whereas the figure for butter was over 140 grams. Until the mid-1996s, low fat and reduced spreads appeared with the number of 10 grams.
The consumption of butter fell dramatically to only 75 grams, a drop of almost 70 grams. While the usage of margarine went down to 40 grams, the low fat and reduced spreads saw a decline in 2007
