The graph below shows difference sources of air pollutants in the UK from 1990 to 2005.
The line graph below illustrates three categories had (industry, transport, households) accounted for air pollutants, in millions of tonnes, in the UK for sixteen years from 1990 to 2005.
Overall, it is clear that the total amount of air pollutants fell over the period. Included in it, the most significant dropped was from industry.
There was a dramatic decrease in the total air pollutants from 7 million tonnes in 1990 to 4 million tonnes in 1999. From 1999 to the end of the period, this figure continuously declines from 4 to just over 3 million tonnes. In contrast, although transport accounted just below 1 million tonnes for air pollutants in 1990, there was a small fluctuation in this term, over sixteen years, before reached 1 million in 2005.
The number of air pollutants reduced suddenly from 5.5 million tonnes in 1990 to 3 million tonnes in 1996. This figures gradually reduced to 1 million tonnes in the next 10 years. Besides that, the air pollutants of households contributed 0.8 million tonnes at the beginning of periods. Although this figure slightly fluctuated over sixteen years, it also remained below 1 million tonnes.
