The bar chart illustrates the garbage disposal in a country in Europe from 2005 to 2008. Overall, the average amount of waste went into landfill decreased over the whole period. By contrast, the figure for trash dumped at sea followed an upward trend.
In the year 2005, the amount of waste be thrown by landfill was highest, at 1800 million tonnes, followed by the figures for dumping at sea and burning, at 600 and about 500 respectively. There was a considerable decrease in the amount of garbage disposal using landfill, at 1200 million tonnes in 2006, whereas the figure for waste disposed by dumping at sea reaching a peak of above 600.
In the year 2008, garbage disposal using burning witnessed a significant rise to around 900 million tonnes between 2006 and 2008, a rise of 300 in 2 years. By contrast, the amount of waste buried into landfill and dumped at sea dropped to the lowest point each, at 600 million tonnes and approximate 500 respectively
