The graph below shows the proportion of population aged 65 and over between 1940 and 2040 in three different countries.
The graph below represents the percentage of the older people aged 65 and above in three various countries between 1940 and 2040.
From the general perspective, it was observed that Japan has the lowest population in 1940 but by 2040 it stood in the top of the list. In the meanwhile, USA was found to occupy the highest place with large group of aged people in 1940 which declined its growth by 2040 in comparison to other countries.
It can be viewed from the line graph that, there are many fluctuations in every country except for Japan where there was dramatic increase in older people in 2030 from 10% to 25% and then it slightly tapered off. Considering, Sweden there were many raises and drops but were of least variation. In 1940, there were 7% of older people in Sweden and reached to 25% by 2040 with slight elevations in 1980 and 2010. Taking USA in to consideration, there was minor increase in the first two decades then the graph raised from 10% to 15% gradually and for certain period that is 1980 to 2020, it maintained a plateau state and reached to approximately 25% by the end of 2040.
In conclusion, there were many fluctuations in the trajectory of all the countries and also a gradual and sudden increases were observed.
