The picture compares the amount of goods carrying by various type of transportation in UK from 1974 to 2002. Looking more closely at the graph, it can be clearly seen that there is a noticeable discrepancy in using shipping by each method.
According to the figure, road was the most popular transportation during all 28-year period. Also, there was a gradual increase from 70 million tonnes in 1974 to almost 100 tonnes in 2002. On the other hand, carrying goods by pipeline was the minority choice, with less than 20 million tonnes until 1994, it had a small increase to 22 million tonnes per year. However, the rest methods of transport were stayed at the middle of the table and there are a fluctuating trend during 28 years. Anyway, the gap between these were approximately 20 million tonnes.
In conclusion, there are a significant difference in the amount of shipping by each transportation.
