The graph provides information about the contribution of three primary sectors to the UK economy. Write a report summarizing the differences

Given is the chart comparing the proportion that three sectors contributed to the UK economy over the 1900-2000 period.

Overall, there was a significant difference in each sector’s contribution value throughout the century, especially in Agriculture and Business and Financial. While Agriculture and Manufacturing showed a downward trend, Business and Financial followed the opposite pattern.

In the 1900-1950 period, agriculture activities played the most important role in the British economy. Its contribution value reached a peak of 50 percent in 1950, while another primary sector, Manufacturing, saw a slight decrease in proportion, from 45 to 40 percent. On the contrary, the business industry was shown to be an unimportant sector, contributing a negligible proportion of 10 percent despite a rapid rise in 1950.

The second half of the century witnessed a massive change in the role of each sector in the national economy when Agriculture’s contribution slumped by 40 percent in 1975 and ended with below 5 percent at the end, losing its importance to the economy. By contrast, the contribution of Business and Financial continued surging to nearly 45 percent in the end, over twofold its figure in 1975. This steep rise also made Business and Financial the key sector of the economy eventually. Manufacturing saw a steady drop over the period and maintained its position as the second important sector with the figure over tenfold Agriculture in 2000.
