The given chart compares the popularity of male and female members in different departments of a university in 2012.

Overall, the number of male employed in engineering, science, business and law was higher than that of female, while there were more female staffs in education, arts and medicine. Additionally, engineering attracted the highest number of male, whereas the majority of females had an interest in education.

With regards of engineering, the discrepancy between the proportions of two genders was huge as the figure for male (above 80%) relatively four fold that of female (under 20%). Business, law and science also had the higher percentage of male academics, which were around 60%, while the figures for female were only roughly 40%.

The number of male in education was eclipsed by that of female, since eight out of ten academic staffs were female compared to a fifth members was male. A similar pattern could be seen in the figure for arts, while the ratio of female and male were almost 60% and more than 40% in turn. Interestingly, a relatively similar percentage of two gender staffs was employed in medicine, which stood at about 50%.
