Overall, the statistics illustrated a rising trend starting from 1940 to 2000 which will continue till 2040. The percentage of older people increased in the USA and Sweden following a fluctuating trend. However, in Japan it receded till the year 1980 before it surged.
More specifically, the percentage of elder people started at around 5% and 9% in USA and Sweden respectively. It then experienced a gradual rise before meeting at 14% for both of the countries in the year 1990. Whilst the proportion plateaued in the USA, it hiked significantly by 6% in Sweden. Comparatively, the data was a meagre that is 5% in 1940 in Japan. Then it decreased slowly before reaching a peak of 27% in 2040.
To sum up, the proportion of people aged 65 and above expanded in the given time period and will follow a same trend in future.
