Hydroelectric power stations
The diagram demonstrates the steps of electricity generation in a hydroelectric type of power station.
The intriguing point about the shown photo of the station is that it is working all day and night hours, while different processes are performed during day and night. These steps are done in a reverse direction between day and night.
there is a stream of the river at top of the station, where water is stored in a high-level reservoir. then, this flow is conducted through a relatively narrow intake under the Dam toward the power station. this flow of water enters the reversible turbines to generate electricity in the day. The mentioned flow is then pumped back from the power station to a high-level reservoir at night.
there is a connection between reversible turbines and a low-level reservoir inside the power station. The flow of water in this connecting canal is reversed between day and night. A connection can also be seen between generator and turbines in the power station. Eventually, power lines connected to the generator are responsible to transfer generated electricity to the national grid and use of the public.
