The tables illustrate the sales amount of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in five nations of Europe in 1999 and 2004.
The first table clearly shows that the sales of Fairtrade coffee in all nations have increased in varying degrees from 1999 to 2004. In two places, Denmark and Sweden, the sales just increase by 2 million euros only. By contrast, the sales of UK and Switzerland had a dramatic rise, with the revenues rising by 18.5 million and 3 million euros respectively.
On the other hand, the second table accounted for the sales of Fairtrade bananas. UK was the country with highest sales in both years, and the sales were much higher than that of other countries. In addition, UK figures rose significantly from 15 million to 47 million euros across these years, while in Switzerland and Denmark sales only grew from 1 million to 5.5 million and from 0.6 million to 4 million respectively. For Belgium and Sweden, the different pattern of sales can be observed, the bananas sales of two countries halved between 1999 and 2004.
By comparing two tables, it is apparent that sales of Fairtrade coffee grew in all European nations, while sales of Fairtrade bananas only went up in three out of five nations. Overall, UK had the greatest sales amount in both Fairtrade products among the all nations.
