The given illustration provides how many trips UK people go to other countries for holidays, business, family visits and other purposes from 1989 to 2001.
Overall, it is clear that most trips of UK residents were to go on holidays. Besides, the number of trips risen between 1989 and 1998.
The proportion of holiday trips accounted 30 million in 1989 and those went up to 50 million in 1998, after which those dropped by nearly 40 million in 2001. Within the period of 6 years from 1995 to 2001, there was an increase for family visits, about under 10 million in 1995 and over 10 million in 2001 while the opposite was true for business trips, about 10 million in 1995 and under 10 million in 2001. In addition to, the number of trips of UK people for family visits stayed the same stable with those for other purpose in 1995, particularly about 9%.
