The two diagrams illustrate the current plan and proposed changes to the central area of the town named Islip.
Overall, the noticeable changes to the town will be the construction of a ring road around the center and more amenities will be erected.
Look at the maps in more details, we can see that the current main road which run through its center from east to west will be pedestrianized. Moreover, with two short lanes down to the south from the main road, one of which leads to a school and another leads to a park, will be converted into a dual carriageway forming a ring around the town center.
Currently there is a row of shops along either side of the main road. However, the shops along its north side will be demolished to make way for a bus station, shopping center, car park and new housing area while the row of shops in the opposite side will remain intact. Further down the southern area, it seems that the town’s park will be reduced in size so that new houses can be constructed within the ring road.
