The given maps compare the layout plan of Langley as depicted in the years 1910 and 1950.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that over the period as a whole, the entire town underwent many changes leading to improved infrastructure, new public facilities, while keeping the layout unchanged.
According to the given illustration, Sherman street, which divides the layout in the middle, has been joined to Jordan street in the West by demolishing the townhouses. Also, townhouses to the Western end of Jordan street have been replaced by three big flats. Moving on, rowhouses to either end of Sherman street have been knocked down to free up space.
Further, three Sherman Mansions have been constructed to replace the old factory to the North. Besides this, the laundry and cafe to either end of Sherman street have been relocated by disposing of the waste area in the North. Moving to the South, wasteland and the adjoining railway cottages have been destroyed to create a children's park and three stores, separated by a new lane, which extends to meet Sherman street. Moreover, the railway track at the extreme South has been removed completely.
