The given maps compare the urban developments that took place in Pentland over a period of 27 years from 1980 to 2007.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that over the period as a whole, the entire place had undergone numerous renovations leading to improved infrastructure, newly launched amenities, and enhanced accessibility.
According to the given illustration, in 1980, the majority of the layout had a grassy area, with a small industrial unit to the West and a car park to the East corner of the middle cross-road. However, over time, the car park was knocked down to extend the road. Also, demolition of the industrial unit led to a multi-story car-park, a swimming pool beside it, some shops to its South, and a small park in the upper left corner.
Furthermore, just to the South end, across the road, a cinema replaced the empty grass area. Another striking change was the evolution of a new residential area to the Southeast corner of the map. Moving on, to its opposite end, on the other side of the road, many new shops were laid down, with new apartments in its North. Further, the cross-road extended to surround the beach area, which finally transformed as Yach marina in 2007.
