The pie chart below shows the main reasons why agricultural land becomes less productive. The table shows how these causes affected three regions of the worlds during the 1990s.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

This pie chart compares four causes of land degradation in the world, while the table illustrates the percentage of these causes affected three different regions, namely North America, Europe and Oceania in 1990s.

Overall, the environment primarily suffered from overgrazing, and Europe was the land which had the largest degraded areas.

According to the pie chart, the first primary reason of land degradation in the globe was over-grazing, where livestock such as cows consumed excessive amount of plants, accounted for over one-third of damage (35%). The next causes were deforestation and over-cultivation which constituted similar proportion, 30% and 28%, respectively. The last reason was other causes which only contributed 7%.

According to the table, the most degraded area in the world was Europe with 23%. Over three-fourth of it caused by deforestation (9.8) and over-cultivation (7.7). On the other hand, over-grazing mainly affected Oceania, which made up 11.3 out of a total of 13%. The least affected area was North America where a total of degraded land was a mere 5%.
