The pie charts show the expenditure of the UK school in 1981 1991 and 2001

Essay topics:

The pie charts show the expenditure of the UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.

The charts below compare particular UK school spending per year in 1981, 1991 and 2001.

Overall, it is apparent that teachers’ salaries remained the primary expense item in school’s spending throughout the observed period. In the meantime, other workers’ salaries that ranked the second place in 1991 decreased gradually over the span of 20 years.

Specifically, there were fluctuations in teachers’ income starting from 40% in 1981, reaching 50% after ten years, and then marginally decreasing to 45% in the end of the period. Other workers’ wages appeared not to follow this pattern with a consistent decline from 28% in 1981 to 15% in 2001.

Spending on resources (e.g. books) and furniture and equipment demonstrated similar figures in 1991 (15%). However, looking at the end of the period, we see the significant decrease in resources spending (9%), while there was a marked rise in money spent on schools’ furniture and equipment (23%). The spending for insurance, although being the smallest expense item from 1991 to 2001, showed a steady rise until reaching its peak of 8%.
