Stress in college

Essay topics:

Stress in college

Stress is a situation that many students today are facing. So what are the causes of stress in students? In my opinion, there are four main reasons that cause stress for students: relationships, studying and new environment.
Firstly, joining university or college mean students will have new friends and meet many new people. Relationships are a broad topic to be discussed and have been and will have greatly affected almost every aspect of an individual's life. Relationships are the way people are connected through blood, marriage, adoption, and legal issues. Human bonds can sometimes become a burden, and people fall victim to relationship abuse. The abuse involves money, sex, or physical abuse. It tends to increase over time. All relationship problems manifest as changes in relationships, conflicts with roommates, working with people you don't know, communicating with strangers and family problems. Students are put under pressure about these problems and then think a lot about how to solve them. This leads to distraction from study and work. The problem of simple but long-term relationships, it actually caused more stress than imagined, especially with student life.
Second is the studying issue, in students' daily learning activities there are too many things that cause stress. Stress in learning is often caused by increased learning volume. This means when students have to do more than they can and then cause disappointment and inability to focus and think coherently. When a student has to study a lot at school with great content and about new issues, students do not have enough time to study and memorize for the best results, and the results make them think a lot and affect their learning. Beside, low score is one of the factor that make stress, in a situation where students expect a higher score but end up getting a score lower than they expected, once this happens, students begin to think a lot about what they didn't do, where they did it, and most of the time cannot find answers to those questions. Thus, they spend too much time for studying: when a student wants to use their personal time for other activities, they become discouraged and lose interest in learning. This thought frustrated and confused them, and in the end their tension intensified.
Last but not least is the new environment factor, some students adapt to a new environment while some are the opposite. The lack of vacations where students study for a long period of time, affect students' cognitive thinking. They become tired and lazy to continue on. These feelings, in the long run, keep students from having enough energy and enthusiasm for learning. Living conditions affect students' feelings and thoughts, too. When students live in a difficult situation that makes their life truly unhappy and affects almost all aspects of their life. Then is their new fears, which they rarely had to deal with in high shool. Fear may be about failure or public speaking or something else. When a student is afraid of failure, they are always afraid to take any initiative even if they know it's the right thing to do. Finally is the anxiety in the future, especially if a student's field of study is difficult to find a job. Students get stressed when they think about what they will do in the future.
