The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002

The table illustrates the amount of budget spent on three disparate goods and services which are food, drinks and tobacco, clothing and footwear and leisure and education in five nations including Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in the year 2002. The unit is measured in percentage.

Overall, it is evident that all the surveyed regions used the greatest expenditure/ allocation for food, drinks and tobacco and the least one for leisure and education in the given year. In addition, it was Turkey that allocated the largest sum of money for these categories compared to others.

As can be seen from the graph, in terms of food, drinks and tobacco, the figure for Turkey was over 32%, doubling that of Sweden which was approximately 16%. It is noticeable that the five mentioned countries used less than 5% of their money in total for leisure and education, especially Spain with just 1.98%.

In 2002, Turkey was the most generous consumer, spending over 43% of their money on the three given kinds of products. Moreover, both Italy and Spain shared virtually identical figures, with 28,56% and 27,29% respectively. Besides, the second biggest spender was Ireland with 37,46% and the most modest number, 24,39% of expenditure in the aggregate, was recorded for Sweden.
