The given table compares the amount of waste that produced by six different countries in the years 1980, 1990 and 2000.

It is clear that there was a significant rise in the waste production in five out of six countries over the period shown. In addition, Korea was the only country that managed to reduce the amount of waste.

By 1980, the US’s waste production was the largest, with 131 million tonnes. Over the following twenty years, this figures rose to around 192 million tonnes, remained highest comparation with any of the other countries at the same time. This trend can also be seen in Japan, Poland and Portugal with from 28 to 53, from 4 to 6,6 and from 2 to 5 million tonnes of its waste respectively.

The amount of waste production in Ireland was the smallest in 1980, with about 0,6 million tonnes, this figures fell suddenly by 1990, before increasing back to 5 at the end of the period. Finally, it is noticeable that the waste production in Korea reduced dramatically between 1990 and 2000, over half of the amount of its waste production by 1990.
