The given tabular chart highlights the information about the seven distinct categories of families who were suffering from poverty during the year:1999. The data is calibrated in per centum and in numbers.

Overall, it is evident that 11% of total australian families were living in poverty. Among them, sole parents were significantly highest in proportion of total population, suffering from poverty, while the category of aged couple had the least amount of poverty proportion.

It can be seen that 6% people who belonged to the single aged group of people suffered from poverty followed by the aged couple(4%), living in poverty. Unfortunately, single and without children category comprised of 19% of total population who were leading a poor life whereas, proportion of couple, had no children was less in comparison of single, no children category.

With regards to the remaining categories of families, sole parents had the wide amount of total population(21%), who were going through the poverty stage of life, however, this proportion was comparatively low in the category of 'couple with children' who had 12% of total population.
