The table below shows the proportion of different categories of families living in poverty in Australia in 1999.

The figures in the table show the percentage of different type of people who living in poverty in Australia in 1999.

It is clear from the table that sole parent was considered the largest component, which accounts for 21%. And the single adult was the next largest part, 2% lower than sole parent.

In contrast, aged people were the least type of people who lived in poverty, and single aged person were just a bit more than aged people, which is 4% and 6% respectively.

The other two type of people were maintain middle positions. But couple with children were more likely to live in poverty than those who has no children, which taken up 12% and 7% respectively.

Overall, there were still 11% of all households living in poverty in Australia at that time, but single parent and hose who with children were more likely to be living in poverty.
