The table below shows the proportion of income spent on 4 common items in the UK in 1998

The given table compares the percentage of income spend among adults and children on four differen items(food, electronic equipment, music and videos), in the United Kingdom in 1998.

Overall, what stands out from the table is that adults spend most of their income on food, whereas children spend the majority of their money on music and electronic equipment.

Looking at gender, women spend the most on food at 39% and on music at 5%, followed by 1% and 0,5% on electronic equipment and videos respectively. By contrast, men spend the most on food at 14% and on electronic equipment at 10%, followeed by 5% and 2% on music and video.
According to the data, a comparison among adult and children depicts that a quarter of adult spend their income to buy food while only 10% of children spend their money to buy it. The proportion of adults that spend their income on music was four times as small as that of children, at 5% and 39% correspondingly.
