The table shows the number of five different types of transport used in Australia from 2010 to 2014.

Overall, all kinds of vehicles experienced an upward trend throughout the given period. Notably, passenger vehicles were by far the most popular means of transport in Australia, while motorcycles recorded the highest growth.

Looking at the table in greater detail, in 2010, Australia had about 11.8 million passenger vehicles registered, followed by a slight increase of 10.2%, reaching 13 million in 2014. Likewise, commercial vehicles saw a higher growth rise in their registrations than the previous vehicles with 17.4%, rising from 2.3 million to 2.7 million. The highest increase, however, was recorded in motorcycles  from 540 thousand to 709 thousand units registered, a 30.8% growth.

In terms of the remaining vehicles, there were about 384 thousand heavy trucks used in 2010, compared to about 106 thousand light trucks registered. Over the following 4 years, light trucks’ registrations rose more significantly than that of heavy trucks, reaching 131 thousand (a 23.5% rise) and 416 thousand units (an 8.3% increase) respectively.
