The table shows the number of five different types of transport authorised in Australia from 2010 to 2014.

Overall, all kinds of vehicles experienced an upward trend in their registrations throughout the given period. Notably, passenger vehicles were by far the most popular means of transport licensed in Australia, while motorcycles recorded the highest growth.

Looking at the table in greater detail, in 2010, Australia had about 11.8 million passenger vehicles registered, followed by a slight increase of 10.2%, reaching 13 million in 2014. Likewise, commercial vehicles saw a higher rate of growth in their registrations compared to previous vehicles, increasing by 17.4% from 2.3 million in 2010 to 2.7 million in 2014. The greatest increase, however, was seen in the number of registered motorcycles, which grew by 30.8% from 540 thousand in 2010 to 709 thousand in 2014.

In terms of the remaining vehicles, there were about 384 thousand heavy trucks authorized in 2010, compared to about 106 thousand light trucks reported. Over the next four years, registrations of light trucks rose more significantly than those of heavy trucks, with the former increasing by 23.5% to 131 thousand units, and the latter rising by 8.3% to 426 thousand vehicles.
