The table demonstrates information about five different kinds of vehicles which were registered in Australia in three years, 2010, 2012 and 2014.
In 2010, there were 11.8 million passenger vehicles registered, while the number of commercial vehicles registered was significantly lower at only 2.3 million. Over the following four years, whereas the rate of passenger vehicles rose by 10.2% to 13 million, the figure of commercial vehicles had a substantial increase by 17.4%, at 2.7 million in 2014.
Turning to the remaining vehicles, the highest increase was recorded for motorcycles, which rose from 540 thousand in 2010 to 709 thousand in 2014, an increase of 30.8%. During the same period, the percentage of light trucks rose by 23.5%, from 106 thousand to 131 thousand, followed by heavy trucks increase of 8.3%, from 384 thousand to 416 thousand in 2014.
In general, a similar trend was seen on five kinds of vehicles registered in four-year-period. Moreover, passenger vehicles accounted for the highest proportion, but the most dramatic growth was recorded for motorcycles.
