The table illustrates the changes in forest land in millions of hectares in 6 areas of the world from 1990 to 2005.

According to the table, there was an upward trend of forest Asia and Europe in this 15 years period. In particular, Asia made up a most change with 8 ha increase compared with 1990. While Europe only rose from 989 ha to 1001 ha over the 15 years period.

As can be seen from the table, there was a downward tendency of forest area in Africa, North America, Oceania and South America. In this category, South America accounted for the most significant change by 69 ha in 2005 compared with 1990. Meanwhile, the most insignificant shift was North America, only 2 ha changes from 708 ha in 1990 to 705 ha in both year 2000 and 2005.

In general, during this 15 years period, Europe took the largest forest area of the whole with 989 ha, 998 ha, and 1001 ha respectively, while Oceania accounted for the least proportion at only 199 ha, 198 ha, and 197 ha.

In conclusion, the research shows a decrease of forest lands in general from 1990 to 2005
