The pie charts compare how much local authorities spent on a range of services in Someland in the years 1980, 1990 and 2000.

Overall, it is noteworthy that the maximum amount was spent on higher education, while the spending on other services was always the lowest in all three years. In addition, it can be seen from the charts that the proportion of higher education, transportation and health and human resources saw a fluctuation over the period of 20 years.

In 1980, the figure for higher education began at 35 percent, which was highest, as opposed to those of transportation and K-12 education, at 16 percent and 25 percent respectively. From 1980 to 1990, while the percentage of transportation and K-12 education went down to 6 percent and 20 percent in the respective order, that of higher education saw a dramatic increase by 10 percent. After a decade, there was a considerable increase of 22 percent in the rate of transportation expenditure. Conversely, the figures for higher and K-12 education slightly decline to 40 percent and 18 percent respectively.

At the beginning of the period shown, the figure for health and human resources stood at 14 percent, before rising to 20 percent in 1990.
