Overall, the quantity of oil, natural gas and coal were the largest during the 20-year timescale. Besides, the figure for oil witnessed a considerable decline at the end of the period.
in the 1980s, the percentage of oil produced was 42 per cent then dropped to 33 per cent in the next 20 years. Whereas, the opposite trend was experienced by the proportion of coal, which. was 22 per cent at the beginning of the period then dropped by 5 percent 20 years later.
Between the 1980s and 1990s, the amount of nuclear power doubled to 10 per cent while the figure for hydroelectric power remained steady at 5 per cent during the period. On the other hand, natural gas accounted for one-fourth the amount of energy production in the USA in the 20-year period.
