From the general perspective, different trends could be observed, including a growth of food and beverage and video games, a reduction of electronics and appliance and home furnishings.
In 2005, it is evident from the information provided that electronics and appliance and home furnishings made up the biggest proportion of online sales, in which the highest percentage of electronics and appliance at over a third, followed by home furnishings, food and beverage, and video games. After five years, there was a change in ranking among the categories, in which food and beverage were at the top of online sales at nearly a third, in contrast, home furnishings were at the bottom at 15%.
From 2005 to 2010, food and beverage witnessed a significant rise of 10% in the online sales rate, similarly, video games grew slightly from 18% in 2005 to nearly a quarter in 2010. Nevertheless, as food's and beverage's and video games' percentage rose, the proportion of online sales in electronics and appliance, and home furnishings experienced a steady decline of 5% and 10% respectively.
