During a recent plane journey, you sat next to a businessman who owns a chain of restaurants. You talk to him and he suggested that you should contact him about a possible job in one of his restaurants.
Write a letter to this businessman. In your Letter
• Remind him when and where you met
• Tell him what kind of job you are interested in
• Say why you think you would be suitable for the job
Dear Pramod,
This is Shyam and I hope you are doing great. With reference to our conversation during the recent flight journey, I am writing this letter to take forward our relation by detailing a bit about my interests and future aspirations.
I remember that you travel to multiple places on a regular basis so it might be hard to recollect me. We met on an Indigo flight that took off from Hyderabad at 6:30 AM on 30th November 2020 and headed towards New Delhi. While we were enjoying our coffee served by the air hostess, we happened to exchange our information regarding our professional interests. I must admit that was an eye-opening discussion where you spoke about importance of networks in today's world.
Even after achieving such a stature in society being the owner of Chutneys chain of restaurants, I found you to be a humble person and it was very kind of you to pass me information about the job openings at your Hyderabad location. I am very keen for the Senior Manager role whose responsibilities include supervising and managing the reputation of the restaurant in local community.
Let me explain why I think I could be a great fit for this role. I hold a Masters degree in hospitality that landed me in a job where I got a chance to prove myself by utilising the opportunities. Although the role of Assistant Manager in the initial stages of the career felt challenging, I got a chance to enhance my skillsets that helped me excel into greater positions at the Swagat Restaurant. I am currently working with them as a Manager for more than 3 years. Also, I am looking for more challenging roles that can hone
my competencies. With this academic background and experience, I think I would be a great asset to your business.
Thank you for your consideration
Yours Sincerely
Shyam
