The line graph compares the birth rates of China and the USA and how it changes from 1920 to 2000.
Overall, the birth rates of both China and the USA decreased but the birth rates of China are almost higher than one of USA. From 1920 to 1935, these birth rates were slightly fluctuated and all of them are over 10%. We can see two significant peaks from the chart in 1935 and 1950, they were the birth rates of China in these years. The higher peak was in 1950 when in increase rapidly from 5% in 1945 to 20% in 1950, the second peak was in 1935 and reach the value of 15% before fell down to 5% in 1940.
Over the same period, the birth rates of USA kept mild fluctuation until the year 1940 and declined quickly about 7% by the year 1945. Then, the birth rate of USA reached the highest value as well as the birth rate of China in 1950. In a long period after that, from 1955 to 2000, both of birth rates decreased gradually about 7 – 8%.
