With the rise of e-books comes the decline in paper books. Some people see this as a good step forward while others do not. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend?

In today’s era of technological development, the paper books are being replaced by electronic books. While some people supported that this development will benefit the society, others argued that this will bring the bad things. In this essay, the pros and cons of the development e-books will be explained.

There are numerous advantages for increasing popularity of e-books. Firstly, e-books can reduce the usage of papers which offers a clean and sustainable solution for the world since hundreds of thousands of trees are sacrificed for paper productions every years. They are also easy to access from different mobile equipment such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. For instance, instead of buying a newspaper, people can read news from the phones while travelling on the bus or train.

Despite of their benefits, the drawbacks of e-books should not also be neglected. The main disadvantage is the copy-right control which is important to protect the intellectual properties of authors. Moreover, technological advancement on controlling copy-right materials is still not trustworthy that the authors and producers will suffer in long term e-book business. Because of this effect, the writing becomes less popular among the teenagers since it is believed not to be a rewarding career pathway in 21st century and it is threatening the creativity of upcoming authors generation.

To conclude, even though e-books have huge advantages on the environment and accessibility, they fail to protect the book creators. With the development of e-books, the technologists should develop a steady tool to protect the creations from being stolen by the hackers.
