Dear Mr. Smith,
I am writing to ask for an extension for my assignment in computer data mining course.
My name is Rahi Honarvar and I am your student in Cambridge University. I am extremely sorry for not meeting the deadline that you set and realize that the delay may lead to a lot of inconvenience.
Unfortunately, I have faced a serious problem since 2 weeks ago. My mother had a stroke and consequently I had to came back home to take care of her. She had an operation and needed someone on her side to be with her. As a result, it will be unlikely for me to complete my assignment on 21th of june.
I would be extremely grateful if you could give me some more time to finish my assignment. I will come back to London in next 5 days and need 3 more days to revise my project. So if you agree with the extension, I will finish my work and hand it in on 4th of july.
Please let me know if you agree with the extension, and sorry again for any inconvenience it may have caused.
