Dear John,
I am writing to thank you for your generosity in lending me your tape recorder that I needed for my birthday party and besides I should apologize for the damage that happened during the party for the recorder. As you may remember I borrowed it on Tuesday, 23th of July since I needed it for my party and I was supposed to give it back on 26th of July.

At first everything went well at the party and all the guests were moving with the music and they had fun but unfortunately there was some fluctuations in electricity which caused some damages. First, the lights went off and I thought it would be OK in a few seconds but to my surprise I realized that some of my devices were damaged due to this problem such as my fridge, TV and the tape recorder and they all didn't work properly. I asked the council for compensation and they assure that they would pay for all the damaged items.

I would like to buy a new tape recorder for you. Although it was not my fault and it was just a bad luck, I'd much prefer to compensate it for you and replace this tape recorder with a new one. I need to know if you want exactly the same brand and model or you prefer a new one.

Once again I am intensly sorry and I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,
Rahi
