You work for an international company, and would like to spend six months working in its head office in another country.
Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:
• explain why you want to work in the company’s head office for six months
• say how your work could be done while you are away
• ask for his/her help in arranging it
Write at least 150 words.
Dear Mr Jay,
I am writing this letter to express my interest in working at our company headquarters in Cedar Rapids for six months. It was recently brought to my notice that there is six months opening in the office for engineering staff. This opportunity would help me further enhancing my skills so that I can perform better and contribute more to the company.
As you know, I have been recently promoted to the lead engineer of the team. This position demands me to take key decisions on the design of our products. In my opinion, it would be very beneficial if I could spend some time with design engineers at the headquarters in understanding our products in more detail.
Coming to the work during my absence from India, I have already planned six months of tasks for the team. I can easily check up on the progress from Cedar Rapids. Also, Priya can be appointed as the temporary lead in my absence. She is well versed with projects and can handle day-to-day troubleshoots. I will also be available in the early mornings and evenings, in case, some task needs my intervention.
Finally, I would like to request you to provide your approval for the same. I will send you my detailed report on the same by today evening.
Yours sincerely,
Madhulika Banerji
