Your neighbours have recently written to you to complain about the noise from your house/ flat.
Write a letter to your neighbours. In your letter
• explain the reasons for the noise
• apologies
• describe what action you will take
Dear Robert,
I am writing this letter in response to your recent letter in which you mentioned about the loud noise that broke through my apartment last Sunday. I apologize for the disturbance and inconvenience caused due to the high music.
Let me describe you the situation and the reason behind this happening. Last Sunday was an important and a special day for me as I turned 18 on that day. To celebrate the occasion, I invited few friends and relatives to my house, and for their entertainment I turned on my soundbox to play some music. Unfortunately, it behaved weird, and started peaking the volume in between. However, I tried to limit it by turning the volume down, but it seems it was uncontrollable and kept shooting the volume up in between. Ultimately, I had to turn it off and played the music on my alternate stereo system in low volume. It appears that within this short period, the sound cracked to your apartment. I sincerely regret for the trouble and unpleasantness it made to you, but can assure you that it happened unknowingly and unintentionally.
I have already spoken to the manufacturer for its repair. As the sound system is still in warranty, they will be performing a thorough diagnosis to fix the issue or will provide a replacement, so that it does not create any problem in the future.
Once again, I feel sorry for this instance and thanking you for writing this to me.
Yours sincerely,
Tom
