Your neighbours have recently written to you to complain about the noise from your house/ flat.

Write a letter to your neighbours. In your letter

• explain the reasons for the noise

• apologise

• describe what action you will take

Dear Mary,

I am writing this letter as a response to a letter that I have received from you earlier today. I would like explain in detail why our home was noisier than usual in the last couple of days.

The main reason for the noise is that we had guests in our home for the past 3 days . They have all come to attend my sister’s wedding that happened yesterday. Most out of town guests were accommodated in the hotel where reception was held. We made arrangements in our home for close relatives only. But we did not think that the place would get too noisy.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience we have caused for the last two days. Most of the relatives who stayed in our home left yesterday and the remaining guest will be leaving by tonight. I am really sorry about once again and we will make sure that it won’t happen again. We will try to keep it down even if we have guests in our home. Thank you for being a kind neighbour and giving us a letter instead of calling the police on us. Awaiting your response.

Your Friend,

Bala.
