In some countries, small town-centre shops are going out of business because people tend to drive to large out-of-town stores. As a result, people without cars have limited access to out-of town stores, and it may result in an increase in the use of cars. Do you think the disadvantages of this change outweigh its advantages?

In this day and age, the ever-increasing demand for a better lifestyle has engendered a trend of driving beyond the vicinity of a town with a view to approaching more ideal shopping centers’, resulting in an escalation of car use and a bitter decline in in-town shops figures. This essay attempts to give plausible reasoning on why the disadvantages clearly outweigh the advantages of such a creative yet deleterious shopping trend.

Traveling beyond the vicinity of a town with the pursuit of supposedly better consumables, without a doubt, is highly constructive when it comes to residential allocation. To be specific, such a change might grant developing areas opportunities towards dwellers’ recognition. As a result, this trend engenders supportive provision for a more balanced procedure of population distribution.

However, such a change in shop locations might be a looming threat to both local authority and the dwellers in general. To commence with, driving to out-of-town markets is a huge waste of dwellers’ time. In the long run, the joy of going shopping would be replaced by incessant boredom coming from unnecessarily tiring processes of traveling. As a matter of fact, the time spent on driving to such shopping centers could be devoted to activities that actually facilitate a person’s self-development such as reading books, taking up a hobby or working on assignments. Adding further, the excessive use of cars from local residents would lead to an increase in environmental contamination, a problem that has already struck social activists since the day it emerged.

All in all, purchasers driving out of town for better markers, despite its slight benefit in residential distribution, pose immense threats to local authorities and inhabitants when it comes to environmental pollution and time-waste.
