Some people believe it is important to give gifts and presents to friends and family to show that we care about them. Others think that there are better ways to show affection to them. Discuss both the views and give your own opinion.
There are plenty of ways to show our love for our near and dear ones. Although, some people think that presenting gifts to our close ones is the greatest way to express our true care for them, others hold a different opinion and believe that there are other effective ways such as spending time with them and helping out them whenever they need to replace the former practice. This essay will analyze both viewpoints with examples to support the arguments and present my opinion later.
Exchanging gifts has been a long time tradition embedded within human history. People practicing this trend on different occasions such as birthdays, weddings and festivals believe that gifts are tangible and leave a remarkable impression about one's thoughts and care for loved ones. Presenting token of love to family and friends make them feel special. For example, sending surprise flowers and cakes on birthdays to geographically distant friends not only make their day but also make their relationship strong. Hence, gifts plays a significant role to express our care for others.
However, there are certain demographics of the society who consider materialistic happiness attained from gifts is short-lived. Moreover, economically weak people cannot afford such expensive gifts. Instead, spending time with family and friends and supporting each other lasts forever. For example, accompanying grandparents for a walk, grocery shopping or gardening, taking care of parents in sickness by cooking meal for them are such selfless deeds that fill their heart with joy and being cherished lifetime by them. Sparing our precious time for our dear ones is the small investment we can make to create a strong bonding in relationship. Therefore, aforementioned points substantiate that happiness achieved from such acts is far above than expensive gifts.
By hammering the final nail, I pen down by saying that spending time with buddies and relatives , and assisting them is more valuable than offering materialistic presents.
