Yes I definitely agree with this statement that besides academic activities, sports and social activities are also important and need financial support too. In many colleges and universities large group of students get admission on the basis of sports activities, many achieve scholarships on the basis of extracurricular activities. According to a survey students need other activities like sports club, social activities clubs in colleges other than academics to keep their minds and bodies healthy and active. Such activities require financial help because to arrange such events extra capital is required.
The money that is given to the institution is spent on libraries, labs, classes and staff salaries, where as more finances are required to accomplish other activities. Extracurricular activities keep the students active and energetic. It is also an important way to connect with other students and develop positive relationships. Colleges should arrange different game matches like cricket, basket ball, volley ball, foot ball, table tennis etc. Also not only just in college but healthy competitions must be arranged with other colleges. Debate competition is also another important social activity that should be encouraged. Many colleges should charge students for extracurricular activities and students should understand that this is for their benefits.
