4 day workweek employees

There are number of concerns raised on the benefits mentioned in the passage. It is claimed that decreasing number of working days from five to four will increase the profits for the employer but it is not plausible. Since the employer needs to find more employees to work on the fifth day, the cost involved in recruiting, training and taking care of health benefits for them is going to be more than what they are currently spending.

On the other hand, employer could make the employees to do overtime to compensate for the fifth day or could demand them to finsh the five days of job in their four days working hours and they can make the employees to get into much worse state than they are already in. Since employees are left with the option to pick between four day or five days of shift, people who are picking four days shift might lose their chances of getting promotions or any benefits from the employer. And also in case of any economic tragedy, they are more vulnerable to lose their jobs then those who picked five days shift.

Consideration of the two work shifts is to provide the employees the time to spend with their families. But in order to suceed in job and attaining skills, they need consistent attention towards their work. Prolonged relaxation could make the employees incompetent in their work. It is true, providing four day work shifts reduce the unemployment rate, but it involves various cost factors that the employer should consider and the number of employees opting for the lesser working days. Based on the outcomes of the above mentioned considerations, we should provide this option.
