Secondly, the article believes that asteroids may be rich in valuable elements and precious metals that can send them back to Earth and make a big fortune. However, the lecturer does not agree with the idea. He thinks that there may be some additional factors that stop them from profiting. For instance, the cost for sending those metals back to Earth may be so high that it reduces the profits. Also, when mining becomes popular, the quantity of the precious metals will rise, and the price will finally fall. Thus, mining those metals may not make people much money.
Finally, the article suggests that asteroids are easier to reach from Earth than other planets because they are nearer to Earth than other planets. Nonetheless, the lecturer still had some issues with that thought. He says that easy to arrive does not mean easy to return. To be more specific, the orbit of the asteroids may be unusual. When an asteroid is near to the Earth at one time, it may no longer stay close to Earth later, and that would be a challenge for humans to return to Earth.
