I agree that workers are more satisfied when they have many different types of tasks to do during the workday than when they do similar tasks all day long. The reasons are as follows.
First of all, workers are satisfied when they are not bored, and having different types of tasks to do during the workday can avoid them from getting bored. For example, if a worker is assigned to file documents all day long, then he will get bored very soon. What he can only do is to classify documents and put them into certain places repeatedly without any new things. On the other hand, if he can do different things in a day, then he can switch between those tasks once a task bores him.
Secondly, workers are satisfied when they have high efficiency, and doing different types of tasks during the workday makes them more efficient. For example, when I worked as a software engineer, I could complete a large number of tasks if I was able to do a lot of different things in a day. However, if I was assigned to do the same thing all day long, I would easily procrastinate on my job and become extremely inefficient at the second half of my day.
Lastly, workers are satisfied when they solve problems, and doing different types of jobs during the workday enables them to solve different issues. For example, when I worked as an intern in a startup company, my manager assigned different tasks to me, so that I could face a lot of challenges and deal with them. Coping with those challenges brought me senses of accomplishment every single day, and that makes me feel so satisfied.
To conclude, workers feel satisfied when they are not bored, and when they have high efficiency, and also when they solve problems. Therefore, I definitely believe that workers are more satisfied when they have many different types of tasks to do during the workday than when they do similar tasks all day long.
