The reading and the lecture both discuss the genuinity of coins discovered in Maine by native Americans one thousand years ago. The author claims that the coins are fake. However, the lecturer refutes the author's assessment. He states that the coins are original and demonstrate three reasons to cast doubt on the claims made in the reading.
The first allegation of script against which the orator argues is the great distance of coin discovery away from the Norse's settlements. In contrast, the professor highlights the fact that the Norse did not stay in one place. Instead, they move from one place to another to collect other objects. Confidently, the lecturer argues that other objects which belong to the Norse were found in the same place. As a result, this provide an evidence that the coins re not fake, but genuine.
Second, according to the text these coins are not genuine because no other coins were found in the same region. The speaker also find this idea debatable. He bolster his opinion by stating that the Norse settlers did not stay in the same region all the time, but they use to travel back to Europe. when they did so, they use to pack all their belongings
Finally,The lecturer contrast the fallacy of the passage that the native American did not use coins when the Norse arrived to the US. Again the lecturer disagree with the author's claims. He acknowledges that Native American did not use coins as money, nevertheless, they still consider them as something valuable. This provide an evidence that they are real Archaeological pieces.
